Abstract
1,144,310. Aminoplast CHEMISCHE FABRIK PFERSEE G.m.b.H. 10 June, 1966 [12 June, 1965], No. 26098/66. Heading C3R. [Also in Division D1] An aqueous solution of one or more methylol compounds of alkylene urea resins contains as catalyst a mixture of phosphoric acid and an ammonium salt of a strong acid (e.g. hydrochloric, nitric, sulphuric or oxalic acid). The alkylene urea may be a cyclic alkylene urea, one or two of the hydrogen atoms of the alkylene, carbon atoms of which may be replaced by OH groups. Other suitable alkylene ureas are ethylene, propylene, dihydroxyethylene or hydroxypropylene or acetylene urea. The solution may contain from 6 to 25% by weight of the methylol compound or its ether. Up to 50% by wt. of the alkylene urea resin may be replaced by a nitrogen free condensate of formaldehyde with a C 1 -C 4 monohydric or polyhydric alcohol (e.g. glycol semiacetal). The catalyst mixture may consist of 10-60% by wt. phosphoric acid (preferably ortho-) and 90-40% by wt. of the ammonium salt (e.g. NH 4 Cl). The solution which may be used for treating textiles may also contain an optical brightener.
