Abstract
1,175,386. Crease-proofing compositions. SUN CHEMICAL CORP. 23 March, 1967 [24 March, 1966; 15 March, 1967], No. 13667/69. Divided out of 1,175,385. Heading C3R. [Also in Division D1] A composition suitable for use in the treatment of cellulosic fabrics comprises an aqueous solution containing a triazin-4-one of the formula in which n is 1 or 2, R is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group containing 1-3 carbon atoms and may represent different entities in the two halves of the molecule when n is 2 and Z is an alkyl, substituted alkyl, cycloaliphatic or aralkyl radical containing 1-10 carbon atoms when n is 1 and an alkylene radical containing 1-4 carbon atoms when n is 2, and a methylol carbamate which is the reaction product of 1À5-3 mols. of formaldehyde with 1 mol. of a compound having the formula or in which R 1 is hydrogen or an alkyl radical having 1-4 carbon atoms and R 2 is an alkyl radical having 1-4 carbon atoms, together with sufficient mineral acid, e.g. hydrochloric, sulphuric or phosphoric acid, to give a pH of 2-3À5. The mineral acid may be used in admixture with an organic acid, e.g. oxalic, citric or acetic acid. Triazin-4-one compounds in which n is 1, both R's are hydrogen and Z is methyl, ethyl, chloroethyl or hydroxyethyl are preferred. N,N<SP>1</SP>-dimethylol-1, 3-propylene urea, an acrylate latex and a polyethylene softener may also be added to the composition.
