Abstract

1,143,748. Mineral mining installation. GEWERKSCHAFT EISENHUTTE WESTFALIA. 24 March, 1966 [26 March, 1965], No. 12990/66. Heading E1F. In a mineral-mining installation an endless chain 50 extends along the length of a mineral face, is driven at 51, 52 at one or both ends of the face, and meshes with a chain wheel 46 on the face side of a machine 6 reciprocable along the face. The chain wheel 46 is part of a gear train coupled to a rotatable cutter drum 12 mounted on a ram-actuated, vertically swingable arm 42. Haulage of the machine along the face is by a further driven chain wheel 46 at the goaf side of the machine meshing with a fixed chain 60 extending along the face. This second chain wheel 46 is driven from the gear train by a hydraulic, speed regulatable drive 59, 60. A rotary kerfing bar may be mounted to 'be co-axial of the first chain wheel 46, which may be axially displaceable. The machine may be mounted on top of a conveyer 2 along the face side of which one or more ploughs may travel.
