Abstract

1,143,434. Drawer guides. ART METAL Inc. 10 May, 1966 [10 May, 1965], No. 20646/66. Heading A4B. [Also in Division E2] A stackable, open fronted filing cabinet 10 houses a drawer 12 supported on withdrawal by two pairs of vertical hinge plates 24 pivoted together, at 27, one plate 24 of each pair being pivoted at 26 to the rear wall 19 of the cabinet 10 and the other being pivoted at 25 to the rear wall 16 of the drawer 12. A bottom rail 32 on the drawer 12 is supported on a bearing plate 30 by interposed ball bearings 34. Interengaging formations 23 on the top and bottom walls facilitate stacking. The cabinet 10 has integral cap 21 and base 22 compartments. Alternatively, only the top and bottom cabinets 10 of a stack are provided with respective cap 21 and base 22 compartments. A front cover flap 40 is pivoted at its upper edge and is slidable horizontally into the cabinet. A single flap 40 may cover the fronts of several stacked cabinets. A single plunger type pin tumbler lock 50 acts through cables 52 when snapped into the locked position to lift brackets 56 so that cam surfaces 58 pivot dogs 60 to engage apertures in the drawer sides 15 whereby drawer withdrawal is prevented. The brackets 56 of stacked cabinets may be interconnected to effect their simultaneous locking.
