Abstract

1,143,398. Bolting. COOPER & TURNER Ltd. 5 May, 1966 [12 July, 1965], No. 29511/65. Heading F2H. A bolted joint comprises a bolt having a shank, deformable projections 24, on the bolt head, a washer 20, or a nut, to indicate the tension in the shank, and a sealing ring 32 of rubber, or synthetic plastics, fitted to the shank so as to abut a face 22 from which the projections extend, the outside diameter of the ring before it is compressed by tension applied to the shank being no greater than an imaginary circle arround which the radially inner surfaces of the projections are arranged. The crosssection of the ring may be square, or the ring may be an O-ring.
