Abstract

114,291. Hobbs, E. W. March 9, 1917. Limbs, artificial.-The metal strips G of the forearm and wrist bucket B of an artificial arm are connected to an upper arm band A by rigid or slightly flexible rods H formed at their ends with ball-and-socket or other universal joints H<2>, H<3> so as to permit natural wrist-twisting movements. The strips G are connected to a plate G' to which a second plate G<2> carrying an artificial hand is pivoted on a transverse axis. The plate G<2> carries a notched arcuate lug G<3> extending through a slot G' in the plate G<1> and engaged by a spring-controlled lever G<5> so as to hold the hand in angularly adjusted position about the transverse axis.
