Abstract

1,142,630. Making hollow-ware; stamping. D. S. COX. 8 Aug., 1966, No. 35484/66. Headings B3A and B3Q. A method of making deep-drawn generally rectangular parts, e.g. stainless-steel or enamelled iron sinks, comprises drawing a generally rectangular blank over a first rectangular punch 24, Fig. 3, having reduced zones 26 between the corners 28, and thereafter, while gripping the outer flange 8, Fig. 5, to prevent or limit further inward movement of metal, re-drawing the workpiece to final shape and depth over a second punch. The workpiece may be annealed between the drawing operations. The sides of the punches may be curved (Fig. 11).
