894,074. Making composite hollow-ware; cupping. KOCKUMS JERNVERKS AB. Oct. 31, 1960 [Nov. 3, 1959], No. 37304/60. Classes 83 (2) and 83 (4). [Also in Group XVII] In a method of making cooking vessels having a heat distribution plate secured to the underside of the base, an initial cupped blank 10, Fig. 3, of larger diameter than the finished vessel has a plate 11 secured thereto as by brazing and is then reduced in diameter by spinning or by cupping dies 14, 15 which transfer some of the metal from the region of the periphery of the base of the blank to the side wall of the finished vessel. The blank is initially fitted over a holding member 13 and is pressed into the die 15 against a backing member 16. The base of the vessel may be given a slight concavity by planishing while the vessel is held by vacuum against a plane or convex cartridge.
