Abstract
895,863. Casting composite articles. [SUNBEAM CORPORATION. June 29, 1959 [Sept. 17, 1958], No. 22287/59. Class 83 (1). In a method of producing a composite article such as an electrically-heated vessel of the type disclosed in Specification 772,268, which is referred to, a liner 13<SP>1</SP> of e.g. stainless steel is fitted closely on a die punch 23, and a second metal 29, e.g. aluminium or copper, is die-cast over at least the bottom portion of the liner to heat and expand said liner, the tensile force applied to the liner by the injection pressure maintaining it in close-fitting engagement with the die punch. The liner material is forced into a clearance pocket 30 provided beneath the flange 22 of the liner. The liner may be roughened by sand-blasting &c. and flame sprayed with aluminium before the casting-on operation. Specifications 806,941, 895,860 and 895,862 also are referred to.
