1405205 Stamping; making pressure vessels M A PLATONOV and G V POKROVSKY 13 Sept 1973 43073/73 Headings B3A and B3Q A blank is pre-bent to a lesser radius than that required in the finished article and is then forced into a die by a punch which applies pressure only to the end edge of the blank. In the embodiment, the blank 1, Fig. 2, is pre-bent in a stamping operation before being forced into the die 2 to form a hemisphere (Fig. 3) by the punch 3 which presses only against the edge of the stamping. The process, applicable to metal or plastics, thickens the walls of the blank.
