Abstract

1,142,468. Gyratory crushers. NORDBERG MFG. CO. 11 May, 1966, No. 20831/66. Heading B2A. In a gyratory crusher which includes a bowl and a head, an inflatable tube system extends around the axis of gyration of the head between two parts of the crusher which are resiliently held together, the tube system, when inflated, exerting a thrust between the said two parts which tends to separate them. As shown, the head 20 is supported in a frame 1 provided with a flange 4 on which rests an adjusting ring 8 having a screwthread 10 mating with a screwthread 12a provided on a bowl sleeve 12, and a locking ring 35 has a recess in which are provided one or more tubes 40 of rubber or rubber substitute which, when inflated, prevent relative rotation of the bowl 11 and frame 1 by urging the screwthreads 10 and 12a into locking relationship. The head and bowl are held together by springs 50. To allow of vertical adjustment between the rings 8 and 35 while securing the ring 35 against rotation relative to the ring 8, a plurality of locking pins 61 are provided to key the ring 35 to the ring 8. To allow the bowl to be lifted against the action of the springs 50 when an uncrushable material enters the crushing gap X, one or more inflatable tubes 60 are located in a recess of the flange 4. The tube or tubes 40, 60 may be employed separately or in combination.
