A screen drum for a pulverizer is formed of a plate 1 having an offset end portion 4 forming an overlapping joint with the opposite end portion 2, the offset portion being arranged to engage recesses 6 which are provided in supporting rings 7, 7<SP>1</SP>. More than one intermediate ring 7<SP>1</SP> may be provided and the rings are coupled together by members 9. The grinding elements may be arranged to rotate in the direction of the non-offset portion 2.
