Abstract

1,141,037. Refractory bricks. STEETLEY REFRACTORY BRICK CO. Ltd. 23 Aug., 1966 [23 Aug., 1965], No. 36123/65. Heading F4B. A refractory unit for a furnace lining comprises two blocks which may be of the same or different material, separately moulded, for example one may be of magnesite-chrome and the other of chrome-magnesite, assembled within a casing 6, 7 of two overlapping channel sections welded together and having a metal plate 5 and two channel members 3, 4 forming internal reinforcement not attached to the casing. Means for suspending the unit from a furnace hanger comprises tabs 9, 10 having U-shaped projections 15, 16 located in recesses 13, 14 which permit each tab to be drawn out for use. A projection 19, 20 engages with the reinforcement when the tab is drawn out. In another embodiment (Figs. 4-6) the tabs 9, 10 are replaced by inverted U-shaped members (34, 35) fixed to channel reinforcements (32, 33) and the top of each block is recessed to accommodate the U-shaped member. In either embodiment the reinforcement may be of L, T, or U-shape.
