Abstract

1,140,735. Cartons. VIBIXA Ltd. 10 Nov., 1967 [10 Nov., 1966], No. 50435/66. Heading B8P. A carton body is erected from a blank of white-line chipboard, corrugated, &c. cardboard &c. by folding-up side walls 2 and end walls 3, bending flaps 24 at at least one end of each side wall to lie outside the end walls, inserting tongues 25 on the flaps through slots 10 in the end walls, and bending lock flaps 7 on the end walls back through 180 degrees inside the body to lower the tongues 25, lock tongues 18 on the lock flaps then being inserted through slots 19 in the carton base 1. Short tongues 23 defined by the slots 19 are bent perpendicular to the carton base 1 when the end walls 3 are folded-up, and form small feet, Figs. 3, 4 (not shown). The side wall flaps 24 are smoothly curved, either offering an externally convex curved surface, Fig. 4 (not shown), or alternatively an externally concave surface. The slots 10 in the end walls, shaped as shown, have their uppermost legs 14 slightly inclined to the fold lines of the end walls 3. As shown, both end walls 3, &c. are similarly constructed but alternatively only one end wall, &c. may co-operate wth tongues 24, &c. the other end wall having a different construction (not further described). The grain, &c. of the chipboard, &c. lies along the blank in the direction of the arrow A.
