Abstract
1,136,335. Diffusion coating with chromium and iron. DEUTSCHE EDELSTAHLWERKE A.G. Jan. 5, 1967 [Jan. 5, 1966], No. 783/67. Heading C7F. To enhance the resistance of Ni or Ni alloy to corrosion Cr is diffused into its surface, penetration of the Cr being enhanced by simultaneous diffusion of Fe. Preferably the Cr and Fe are applied as halides, parts which may be of Ni, or of Ni-Cr or other Ni alloy, or may have a surface layer of Ni applied by spraying or electro-deposition, being heated with, for example, Cr chloride, Fe chloride and Al 2 O 3 .
