Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the adherability of an oxidation resistant coating, by applying Al contg. a resin on the surface of a stainless steel contg. a specific amount of Ni, then by heating the coated steel to form an Al-plated layer and to make alloy of Al and Fe, and of Al and Ni. CONSTITUTION:A coating fluid 2 composed of 50-90% by weight of Al, or Al alloy powder, 10-50% by weight of a synthetic resin such as vinyl acetate is applied on the surface of an austenitic stainless steel 1 contg. 10-30% Ni. After cooling and solidification, the coated steel is heated to a temp. not lower than the m.p. of Al to form Al-plated layer 6 through a diffused layer 5 of Al, it is then heated to 700-800 deg.C for 10-120min. so as to cause Al in the plated layer to react with Fe in the base material to form an Al-Fe compound layer. The coated steel is further heated to 900-1,000 deg.C for 30-120min. in order to cause Ni contained in the Al-diffused layer 5 or Al compound layer 7 to react with Al and is fixed. This coating method prevents the corrosion of the base material and adheres the plated layer strongly to the base material.
