Abstract
1,134,983. Backsight for firearms. RHEINMETALL, G.m.b.H. 26 Jan., 1967 [29 Jan., 1866], No. 3959/67. Heading F3C. A backsight for a firearm comprises a sighting. drum 9 having a pluralty of peep apertures 12 at different distances from its upper edge and positioned circumferentially therearound. The sighting drum 9 is screwed on to a support 2 mounted on a sight body 1 on the firearm, the support 2 being in the form of a drum bush releasably secured, as by a screw 3, to the sight body. The sighting drum and the drum bush are interconnected by means of a screw thread 9a on the drum or bush and a plurality of resiliently mounted guide elements 6 in the. bush or drum respectively, the elements 6 being urged into the screw thread 9a such that, for adjustment of the sight the sighting drum 9 can be rotated about the drum bush 2. The sighting drum 9 is releasably locked in its adjusted position as by a spring loaded ball 13 co-operating with a groove 11 of thesighting drum. The drum bush 2 is held against rotation with respect to the sight body 1 by means of a pin 4 of the sight body co-operating with one of a plurality of bores 4a in the drum bush 2. The upper edge of the sighting drum may be provided with a series of recesses to form another set of sighting points (Fig. 2, not shown).
