Abstract

1,134,924. Conjugate filaments. ASAHI KASEI KOGYO K.K. 20 Oct., 1966 [23 Oct., 1965; 25 Feb., 1966], No. 47022/66. Heading B5B. [Also in Division C3] A crimpable conjugate filament is produced from crystalline polypropylene as one component and a crystalline random or block copolymer of propylene and another olefin as the second component. The random and block copolymers contain respectively 0.5-20 and 1-40 mole per cent of the other olefin. The other olefin may be ethylene, butene-1, pentene- 1, hexene-1, heptene-1, octene-1, 4-methylpentene-1, 3-methylbutene-1, or styrene. The intrinsic viscosity of the components is 0.6-3. Spinning is effected at 200-350‹ C. The filaments are of the side-by-side or eccentric sheath-core type. Depending on conditions, crimping is produced with or without heat treatment after drawing and relaxing.
