Abstract

1,134,810. Controlling wrapping machines. FORGROVE MACHINERY CO. Ltd. 23 Oct., 1967 [9 Dec., 1966], No. 55273/66. Heading B8C. In a machine in which a pair of webs 7, 8 joined at 9 are folded about an article 16 by the movement of the article as it is pushed against the webs, feed of one of the webs 7 is stopped by a clamp 20 when a photo-cell 19 detects one of a series of marks 18 on the web. The webs are subsequently sealed and cut behind the article by jaws 21, 22, and further wrapping operations may then be performed. The joint 9 may initially be in the centre of the article 16, slipping round to the position illustrated after the clamp 20 has engaged. The clamp may bereleased during the operation of the sealing jaws 21, 22. The pulleys 12, 13 shown draw slack from the web rollers 14, 15 before each article is wrapped.
