Abstract
1,133,500. Processing photographic silver halide colour material. ILFORD Ltd. Aug.23, 1967 [July25, 1966], No.33378/66. Heading G2C. In the processing of an exposed photographic light-sensitive silver halide colour material by colour development followed by bleaching and fixing or by bleach-fixing, stain or colour fog is reduced or eliminated by treating the colour-developed material before or during the bleaching step with an aqueous solution of a compound of the formula: - wherein R 1 is hydrogen or alkyl, R 2 is hydrogen, alkyl, hydroxyalkyl or sulphoalkyl and R 3 is hydrogen, alkyl or alkoxy, or of a salt of such a compound. The material may be washed between each succesive treatment and the bleaching step may be preceded by an acid stop bath treatment. The compound of the above formula may be included in the acid stop bath and/or the bleach bath and/or the bleach-fix bath. Compounds specified are p-aminophenol and the naphthalene disulphonic acid salts of 4-hydroxy-3-methyl-N-ethyl-N-#- hydroxy-ethylaniline and 4-hydroxy-3-methyl-N- ethyl-N-#-hydroxybutylaniline.
