A radio frequency switch comprises a rectangular cavity 23 formed between flat surfaces 27 and 28 of metal blocks 10 and 25, into which cavity the inner conductors of coaxial sockets 12, 13, 14 extend to form fixed contacts 15, 16, 17. Movable flat strip contact members 30 and 31, carried on spring-loaded plungers 32 and 33, are alternatively movable into engagement with contact 16 and 15 or 17 respectively by a rocker 37 pivoted at 38 and operable against spring 40 by energization of a solenoid 43. The end of each member 30, 31 which engages contact 16, is cut on the slant (Fig. 3, not shown), so that they can pass each other during switch operation. When not depressed the members 30 and 31 lie in uniform electrical contact with the surface 28 so that the cavity between the non-connected contacts functions as a waveguide beyond cut-off. In a second embodiment (Figs. 5 and 6, not shown), four coaxial sockets are arranged at the corners of a square and four movable strips are depressed in alternative pairs by two rockers (78, 80) simultaneously actuated by a cross-arm (87) when a solenoid (85) is energized.
