Abstract

1,132,329. Refrigerators. ROBERT C. SCUTT Ltd. 6 July, 1967 [8 Sept., 1966], No. 40139/66. Heading F4H. A refrigerator is provided with two refrigeration systems and automatic switch-over means which cause the systems to operate alternately, one system defrosting while the other is operating. As shown, two condensing units 20a in a machinery compartment 20 serve separate evaporator sections in an evaporator compartment 16 which is separated from the storage compartment 12 by a partition 15. A fan 18 circulates air between the compartments through apertures in partition 15. Compartment 12 contains slidably removable trays 13 and a fixed shelf 14, an upwardly opening door being provided at the front of the latter. The refrigerator may be used to store bottled blood. A removable insulated plug 17 is provided above the evaporator compartment. The systems may operate at 12-hour intervals.
