Abstract
1,132,005. Fitting bottle stoppers. SEITZWERKE G.m.b.H. 9 Nov., 1965 [20 Nov., 1964], No. 47384/65. Heading B8T. An apparatus for corking bottles 20 has a heating chamber 21 arranged in the body of the apparatus which sterilizes the stopper and the neck of the bottle during the fitting. The cork, supplied from a delivery tube 10, is positioned in a bore 15 and compressed by a lever (13), Fig. 2 (not shown), which is pivoted into the bore. A guide 19 is arranged adjacent the end of the bore 15 and a ram 16 serves to eject the cork from the bore 15 into the bottle top. The heating chamber 21 is closed by a plate 22, and forms a steam chest which heats those sections of the fitting device in direct contact with the corks and the bottles' mouths. Steam is supplied by an inlet tube 23 and flows out through an outlet tube 24. The enclosed region may alternatively be heated by other sources e.g. gas, electrical, hot air, or hot water.
