Abstract
1,131,013. Screens. V. BRAMMAR (PLASTICS) Ltd. 24 Nov., 1966 [16 Feb., 1966], No. 6720/66. Heading B2H. In a screening apparatus, e.g. for separating coal, the or each screening element is formed of polyurethane having a specific gravity of 1.0 to 1.2 and a Shore hardness of 60‹ to 98‹. The element may consist of a plate made of a sheet of polyurethane cast on to a backing of canvas or other fabric prior to the punching out of the required apertures. One or more plates may be laid upon a screen bed having supporting bars to which the plate or plates may be secured, e.g. by wedges. The area of the screening element on to which the material to be screened is initially fed may be protected by a thick (¥") sheet of expanded synthetic rubber covered with a thinner (“") layer of polyurethane. The screening element may be stationary or may be reciprocated continuously or intermittently during operation. Cleaning of the screening element may be effected by hammering.
