Abstract
1447714 Vibrating screen filter/separator WILKINSON RUBBER LINATEX Ltd 6 June 1974 [18 June 1973] 25242/74 Headings B1D and B2H A vibrating screen separator for dewatering or grading granular solids comprises a screen deck consisting of at least one elastomeric plate 32 in which a plurality of rows of slits 56 have been cut without removing material, the or each plate being mounted in a frame 30 and stretched therein in two directions (Figs. 4, 5 not shown). The deck as a whole is vibrated at 1800-3600 r.p.m. by motor 22. which causes the individual slits to open and close at random to produce rapid dewatering of material moving along the deck. Dewatering involves minimum loss of fine particles, but if solids are to be graded water is sprayed onto the solids on the deck to wash the fine particles therethrough, such particles being recovered using a similar separator without a spray. A plurality of plates 32 may be coplanar as in Fig. 1 or arranged stepwise. A typical plate is ¢ to 1¢ inches thick with solid elements 54 between the slits 56 being 4-6 inches long and # to inches wide. A list of suitable elastomers is given. A plate 2 feet by 4 feet is stretched about 3 inches each way and secured to its frame by screws (Fig. 4) and possibly adhesive.
