Abstract

1455448 Screening machine; ORVILLE SIMPSON CO 7 Dec 1973 [8 Dec 1972] 56940/ 73 Headings B1D and B2P In a vibratory screening machine for sorting particle material e.g. wood chips, or for separating solid-liquid mixtures, a distributor directs an incoming feed stream of the material uniformly to different areas of a screen. The stream falls on a rotating, canted thrower 45 which throws the material outwardly so that it rotates along a circular path and falls between vanes 56 on a roof 38 albove a screen 16. The vanes are angularly spaced and direct the material outwardly over the edges of the roof so that it falls at substantially uniform rates to different areas 16a-f of the screen 16 below. As shown, downwardly inclined screens 16 and 17 having large and small apertures respectively are mounted in a screen box 15 provided with chutes 23, 24 and 26 for the discharge of coarse, medium and fine material respectively. A ball screen cleaner 22 may be associated with either or both of screens 16 and 17. The screen box is suspended on cables or rods 11 and is vibrated by means of an eccentric weight 35 mounted on a shaft 32 driven by a motor 29 through belt 30 and pulley 31. The thrower 45 includes a circular flat plate 47 mounted at a preferably adjustable angle to the vertical on the shaft 32. A weir (67), Fig. 4 (not shown), may be provided adjacent each edge 39 of the roof 38 to smooth out distribution. Some of the vanes, 63 as shown, may be provided with adjustable slots 68 for this purpose. For Figures see next column
