A rotatable screening drum D for separating undesirable and desirable particulate materials has mounted therein a number of axially spaced, stationary slide baffles 18 having their edges spaced from the screen surface of the drum and downwardly inclined in the direction from the material intake end 6a to the clean particle discharge end 7a of the drum. In operation, the feed material introduced via a chute 33 into the drum is engaged by the screen surface and through the effects of centrifugal force and friction is carried upwardly in a circular manner until the force of gravity causes the material to topple and drop from an upper portion of the drum on to the baffles 18 rolling and sliding downwardly and forwardly thereon until it drops from the lower edges of the baffles on to screen surface to be tumbled again. As the material travels upwardly the fine undesirable particles are progressively screened through the drum. The larger desirable clean particles are finally discharged through the outlet 7a. The ends 6a, 7a of the drum D are supported on rollers 17 carried by shafts 16 of a frame F and the drum is rotated by an electric motor M through belt and pulley 31, 31a and sprocket 26, chain 25 and gear ring 24. The baffles 18 are shiftably mounted on the shafts 16, their angles of inclination being simultaneously adjustable by a bar 20 operable by a handle 20f and retained in an adjustable position by notches 20c thereon engaging the lower edge of a slotted plate 21. The baffles are ovalshaped and may be flat or slightly concave on the surface facing the discharge end 7a, as shown by the end baffle 18a which serves as a discharge chute for clean particles. Material treated include grain, chemicals and plastics.
