Abstract

1,130,496. Marking machine. CIBA Ltd. 7 July, 1967 [21 July, 1966], No. 31394/67. Heading B6C. Material 40 continuously passing through a marking machine is impressed with a series of regularly spaced dashes by a graphite or silver marking wheel 89 which is non-rotatable relative to the moving material and is swung about an axis 19 by a epicyclic driving gear which is actuated by a reversible electric motor 16. The latter is controlled by a circuit including a reversing switch 36, 37 which is operated by a spring-loaded switch 34 the opening and closing of which is directly dependent upon the swing- ing arm 24 which carries the marking wheel 29. The wheel 29 is readily removable from its shaft 26 upon which bears a spring-loaded brake means 32 carried by the arm 24. Through adjustment of the brake means the contact pressure between the marking wheel and the material 40 is similarly adjusted. In two modified embodiments the length of the dash lines is variable through the provision of eccentric members in the epicyclic gearing.
