Abstract
1,240,607. Toothed gearing. H. GRAHAM. 6 May, 1970 [13 May, 1969], No. 24224/69. Heading F2Q. A mechanism providing a variable reciprocating output comprises two parallel lead screws 10, 11 meshing a worm-wheel 12 located between them, the worm-wheel 12 being adapted to move longitudinally of the screws 10, 11, on rotation thereof and carrying a member which is to be reciprocated. The worm-wheel 12 is mounted on an axle 13 journalled in a top plate 14 and bottom plate 15. Mounting blocks 16, 17, to which the plates 13, 14 are secured, have apertures 18, 19 through which the lead screws pass. Electric motors may drive the lead screws 10, 11 in opposite directions. Alternatively the drive may consist of hand wheels.
