Abstract

1,128,862. Crimping fibres. EASTMAN KODAK CO. 20 Jan., 1966 [22 Jan., 1965], No. 2620/66. Heading D1F. The exit of fibres from a stuffing-box crimper is restricted by a non-hinged, flexible clapper door 7 of stainless steel or copperberyllium alloy formed as an integral portion of a scraper blade 6. The door is depressed into, and released from, an operative position 10 (shown chain-dotted) corresponding to the desired degree of uniform crimp, by means of an air cylinder, bellows or diaphragm actuator, as at 8, acting through a clevis arrangement 9 at or near one end, or at the centre, of the door. Both ends of the door may be connected to the blade 6, Fig. 4 (not shown) the arrangement 9 then protruding through an opening in the centre thereof.
