Abstract
1,126,288. Pure fluid amplifiers. SINGER CO. March 6, 1967 [March 8, 1966] No.10408/67. Heading G3H. [Also in Division D1] A fluidic circuit for monitoring the operation of a sewing machine has a fluid source 26 feeding a receiver 30 through the spokes of a pulley 16 carrying the needle thread 18, the arrangement being such that interconnected fluid amplifiers 34, 46, 56 in circuit with a variable delay element 52 feed an integrating detector 70 with fluid at a pressure determined by the frequency of the pulse train Figs 2a-c (not shown) developed in receiver 30 in response to the speed of rotation of pulley 16. With the pulley rotating at a desired speed, predetermined by the setting of element 52, the pressure applied to detecter 70 is below the operating threshold necessary to operate an alarm (not shown), but in the event of the pressure in leg 58 rising above this threshold value the alarm is activated. Leg 58 is subjected to this increased pressure. When the pulse times are too long (Fig.2b), or too short (Fig.2c), or when receiver 30 is supplied with either no pressure or a continuous pressure due to thread breakage stopping the pulley.
