Abstract

1385067 Loop taking mechanism SINGER CO 27 April 1972 [7 June 1971] 19527/72 Heading D1G To assist in passing the needle thread loop around a shuttle 22 the shuttle driving member 78 is provided with a disc 81 rotatable about an axis perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the driver, and engaging a radial slot 85, in the shuttle the disc having a radial thread accommodating indentation, means being provided to turn the disc about its axis at a rate not greater than that of the shuttle driving member. As shown the disc has peripheral teeth 83 separated by thread accommodating indentation and engaged by a screw thread formation 84 provided in the cavity 72 of the block 20 in which the driving member runs. Lower thread tensioning. The bobbin 49 is continued on a bobbin seat 45 by a friction ring 48. The seat 45 is retained on a stud 44 by a screw 46 which can adjust the pressure between the bobbin seat and a friction washer 47, to adjust the lower thread tension.
