Abstract

1311693 Non-woven net CHAVANOZ SA 3 Sept 1970 [11 Sept 1969] 42296/70 Heading D1R An apparatus for use in producing non- woven net fabric by winding a continuous thread around spaced elongate supports, and advancing the thread sections extending between the supports while maintaining the sections in spaced parallel positions to form a weft sheet, is characterised by having control means for sensing the presence of thread sections in the sheet, and for stopping the winding and advancing means in response to the absence of one or more sections from the sheet. Thread 32 is wound by rotating tube 20 about helical springs 36, 38 which rotate to advance the thread sections 5 to form the weft sheet. The control means includes a photoelectric cell 80 which, when it senses the presence of passing thread sections, emits a signal to reset a time switch set to stop the rotation of tube 20 and springs 36, 38. When the cell fails to emit a signal, due to the absence of a thread section from the weft sheet, the time switch operates to stop the rotation of the tube and springs. The springs may be replaced by other members having a helical configuration, e.g. screws, threaded cylinders or helically grooved cylinders. The cell may be replaced by, e.g. a fluidic pressure sensing device. The net fabric is formed by bonding warp threads to the weft threads. Selvage threads 74, 76 may be fed through the springs to lie within the loop ends of the thread sections.
