Abstract

1319205 Bonded net forming apparatus CHAVANOZ SA 3 Sept 1971 [4 Sept 1970] 41266/71 Heading D1R Apparatus for forming a weft thread sheet and for incorporating said sheet into a non- woven net fabric includes a pair of spaced side-by-side elongate thread support means 30, 32, each comprising a helical member 34, 36 and a thread support element 38, 40, positioned inside and inwardly spaced from said helical member and extending along the central axis, a thread winding tube 22 for laying a continuous thread 16 about support elements 38, 40, and a sprocket and chain drive 44 for rotating helical members 34, 36 to advance the weft sheet along the support elements. Preferably the helical members 34, 36 are springs; alternatively helically grooved cylinders may be used. Support elements 38, 40 are preferably tubular, surrounding selvedge threads 50, although solid rods may be used. In the embodiment of Fig. 4 (not shown) the support tubes flare out to an increased diameter at their mid-points thus stretching the weft threads 58 as they are moved along the tubes by the springs. Tubes 38, 40 may rotate with springs 34, 36, or they may be supported in bearings. The weft thread sheet is passed between the nip of rollers (60, Fig. 1, not shown) and 62 whilst warp thread sheets (64, 66) are fed through above and below the weft sheet. The net may be bonded at its crossover points by passing through an adhesive bath (60) and an oven 72. Alternatively a hot-melt adhesive may be applied or the natural or man-made threads or yarns adhered by thermal fusion.
