Abstract
1,125,499. Container.closures. SHELL INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ, N.V. 21 June, 1967 [23 June, 1966], No. 28677/67. Heading B8T. [Also in Division C3] A container closure comprises a shell 10 and a liner 20 which may be adhesively fixed inside the shell 10. The material of. the liner 20 is a block copolymer with a mineral oil extender, and is designed to form an air and liquid. tight seal which will not affect the taste and odour of the contents of the container. -The block copolymer has the configuration A-B-A, where each A represents a polymer block of a monovinyl arene having a molecular weight between 18,000 and 35,000, and B is a polymer block of a conjugated diene having a molecular weight between 35,000 and 70,000 and hydrogenated derivatives thereof. The liner 20 contains 20 to 100 parts by weight of the extender, which may be a medicinal white oil or a naphthenic petroleum oil, per 100 parts of block copolymer. In a particular embodiment, the polmyer A may be polystyrene, and B may be polybutadiene or polyisoprene.
