Abstract

1,124,616. Nailing machines. E. JASPES. 8 June, 1967 [11 June, 1966], No. 26596/67. Heading B4C. A hand-held machine for driving corrugated nails comprises a pneumatically or electromagnetically driven ram 12 and a magazine 3 for holding a corrugated strip 5 which is advanced by one nail length each time the ram reciprocates by means of a driver device 19, and a cutting device 11 for cutting off each advanced nail, the drives of the driver and cutting devices being synchronized with the movement of the ram. The driver device 19 comprises a slide 21 and pivoted thereon, a pawl 30 which is connected by a rod 29 to one end of a lever 37, the other end of the lever being connected to the ram. The cutting device includes a fixed blade 15 and a movable blade 51 which is actuated by means of a cam 54 mounted on a shaft 56, the shaft being oscillated by means of a rod 59 connected to the lever 37. A spring-loaded block 40 having projections 43 adapted to engage the corrugations of the strip is provided in order to prevent reverse movement of the strip as the pawl 30 returns. In a modification the driver device (219, Fig. 8) is actuated by a slotted lever (269) connected to a projection (271) mounted on the ram (236, Fig. 9). The cutting device (211) is provided with a pivoted blade (261) which is actuated by means of a push-rod (277) connected to the ram and adapted to abut a pawl (267) pivoted on the blade.
