Abstract

1446261 Nailing apparatus TEXTRON Inc 16 Sept 1974 [17 Sept 1973 22 Aug 1974] 40243/74 Heading B4C In a nailing machine, the nails are driven by a piston 20 and are fed from a magazine 25 to a position below the piston a removable bush 24 being provided to hold edges 32 of a nail retaining strip during driving. As shown in Fig. 3 the nails are fed below a piston 20 by a tension spring (not shown) and reverse motion of the nail retaining strip is prevented by a catch 42 spring urged downwardly. The piston-rod 20 when driving the nails also punches out a plastics washer from the carrier strip. In a modification (Fig. 15) the nail strip is engaged for forward movement by an arm 42<SP>1</SP> pivotally mounted on a further arm 75 which is urged in the feed direction by a flat spring 79 and is moved backwards by a sleeve 141 during the descent of the drive piston. An eccentrically mounted cam 80 provides stroke adjustment.
