Abstract
An anode assembly for impressed current protection of e.g. a ship's hull comprises an <PICT:1124311/C6-C7/1> elongate anode of Ti, Zn, a Ti coated Cu core supported on a steel backing-plate and insulated therefrom by a layer of a resin such as an epoxy resin or laminations of fibre glass and polyester resin. The outer face of the Ti anode is platinized. The anode 1 is embedded in the resin 2 on backing-plate 3 which is bolted and welded on a mounting-plate 5 which is coated with an epoxy coal tar resin 11 except on the peripheral zone 12 (Fig. 1). The assembly is mounted on the ship's hull by welding after positioning the assembly on the hull by means of studs 7. The current is supplied by cable 9 and a connector which are embedded in the resin 2. In a further embodiment the backing-plate is formed with a pair of longitudinally extending wings defining a space in which the resin is placed.
