Abstract

1345566 Insulators GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 19 April 1971 [23 April 1970] 26298/71 Heading H2C An electrical insulator comprises a body 1 of organic material (e.g. synthetic rubber, polyester resin or epoxy resin having a flexibilizer compound and possibly in corporating 20-70% of hydrated alumina, and skirts 2 having a radius of curvature 7 of at least <SP>7</SP>/ 32 inch and not greater than <SP>16</SP>/ 32 inch. In the embodiment shown an inorganic core member 3 e.g. fibre-glass impregnated with synthetic resin and metal fittings 4 are provided. The core has flared ends protruding from body 1 and is secured to the metal fittings by rigid adhesive 6 of the epoxy resin type, possibly incorporating silica or hydrated alumina as filler. Various types of epoxy resin can be used for the body or adhesive such the polyether derivatives of a polyhydric organic compound or cycloaliphatic epoxy compounds.
