Abstract

1,124,210. Compartmented containers; stoppers. I. SOLOWEY. 9 Feb., 1967 [13 May, 1966], No. 6156/67. Headings B8D and B8T. A compartmented container, which may be formed of glass, has a stopper with a sealing member 24 of less diameter than the internal diameter of the container neck, a handle being provided on the stopper so that the'member 24 may be lifted off its seating formed on an internal wall 16, thereby allowing the contents of the respective compartments to mix. The sealing member may be of conical form, Fig. 5, and the handle stem fit in a central sleeve of a cap for the container as shown; or the stem may be integral with a cap having a conical portion and depending skirt, Fig. 6 (not shown). The member 24 may be of part-spherical shape, Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown). The container may have three superposed compartments, Fig. 7 (not shown), the aperture into the lowest being smaller than the aperture into the middle compartment. Each aperture is sealed, the lower by a member integral with a common stem depending from a stopper, the upper by an apertured sealing member which is slidable past a protuberance on the stem. This arrangement allows each compartment to be filled successively with a separate material. In another form, a cylindrical wall upstanding on the base wall of the container forms a compartment, Fig. 8 (not shown), closed by a hemispherical sealing member.
