Abstract

A stitch cam having an operative face of convex outline draws several needles simultaneously into the knock-over position so that stretchable yarn is engaged across the sinkers and is stretched to form a loop. This cam may alternate with conventional cams at the stations of a multifeed machine so that stretchable and non-stretchable yarns are knit into alternate courses. A non-stretchable yarn, which fractures across the sinkers periodically may be knit together with the elastic yarn.
