Abstract
112,181. Dexter, F. Feb. 2, 1917. Heating by electricity.-A fan blower for delivering air at variable temperatures is provided with two inlets through one a of which air passes to the heater d and through the second, which is adjustable, cold air in variable quantity is introduced at some point between the heater and the outlet of the apparatus. Fig. 1 shows slots e in the side of the fan-casing b provided with a gapped plate f by which the openings may be partly or wholly closed. The slots e may be replaced by a series of holes. Fig. 6 shows a form of pump in which cold air is drawn in through holes in the outlet pipe c, which are more or less closed by a pierced ring h<1> rotatable on the tube c. A similar ring and inlet may be fitted on the intake tube a between the heater and the impeller. In the form shown in Fig. 6, a nozzle o is fitted within the tube c. The means for heating the air may be controlled by the member for regulating the air inlet so that, when the inlets are fully opened, the heater is put out of action.
