Cleaning plant for supplying washing and/or rinsing media to a plurality of separate apparatuses 6-11 to be cleaned comprises a main conduit 2, 4 for conducting the media from an operating centre 1 past each said apparatus and back to said centre, a pair of inlet 14 and outlet 15 conduits associated individually with each apparatus connected to main conduit at points close along the conduit, and valve means 12, 13 associated with each pair of inlet and outlet conduits and operable either to isolate the inlet and outlet conduits from the main conduit or to conect the inlet and outlet conduits to the main conduit and close the portion of the main conduit between the inlet and outlet conduits. The valve means may comprise two three-way valves, a single valve unit, or three shut-off valves. The operating centre may comprise one or more tanks of cleaning fluid, a source of rinsing liquid, usually water, means, such as a heat exchanger, for heating or cooling the liquids, reversing means for loading liquids in different ways within the centre, exhaust means, and temperature registering means. Pumps 3 and 4 force the fluid around the main conduit. The sequence of liquids used and the through flow time of each liquid is controlled at the operation centre. Whilst one apparatus is being cleaned the others may be isolated from the main conduit. The arrangement prevents any stagnant lengths of cleaning fluid in the main conduit whilst maintaining a constant velocity of flow through any one of the apparatuses 6-11.
