Abstract

1,233,349. Washing bottles &c. SYBRON CORP. 19 July, 1968 [28 July, 1967], No. 46724/70. Divided out of 1,227,388. Heading B8T. [Also in Division A4] A transfer valve incorporated in a spray action washing machine, e.g. for bottles, crockery &c. is responsive to the distance between the valve and an article-carrying dolly received in said machine for supplying washing fluid to the conduit system of a dolly of the through-flow type or for providing a spray when a dolly not having conduits is received. The valve has a cylindrical valve body 12 connected to a water inlet 10, the body having ports 22. A valve member 34 is slidingly located inside the body by a plurality of 0-rings 36. The valve body is enclosed by a rotatable cylinder 28 having perforated sprinkler arms 30. When a throughflow dolly having a bottom member 46 is received over the valve member 38, water pressure pushes the valve member upwardly until it seals against the conduit system inlet 52 to supply water to the conduits, the ports 22 remaining sealed as shown in Fig. 1. A dolly with no such conduit bottom member 46 allows the valve member to rise to its full extent, flange 40 sealing against the head 42 of a rod 18 to cut off its water supply. This movement opens the ports 22 allowing water to flow to the sprinkler arms 30 which rotate due to the position of the perforations 32. The dolly bottom member 46 may be constructed at such a level as to allow supply of water both to the conduits and to the sprinkler arms.
