A tufted fabric or other web 12 is fed, together with a backing fabric 19, alternately round stencil rollers 11 made of sintered material and guide rollers 16a. Each roller 11 is associated with a vacuum box therebeneath to draw ink, which is supplied through a tube to the inside of the roller, through the roller on to the webs.
