Abstract
1,120,218. Two-part couplings. BERG ELECTRONICS Inc. 6 March, 1967 [9 May, 1966], No. 10449/67. Heading H2E. A bowed leaf spring 30 which rests against the base 14 of a socket contact 12 is deflected upwardly by the insertion of a square crosssection contact pin 40 and urges the inserted pin against the socket base 14. Retaining ears 36 are formed on the ends of the leaf spring, or in a modification (Figs. 9-13, not shown) are formed at its centre and engage slots in the socket side walls. The socket base 14 has a pin-receiving channel 24 whose lower wall may be ridged (42, Fig. 7, not shown) or upwardlycurved (80, Fig. 16, not shown). In further embodiments, the lower wall of the channel has a recess (44, Fig. 8, not shown) or dimples (48, Fig. 15, not shown), so providing a plurality of contact areas between the socket base and pin.
