Abstract

A core spun elastic yarn comprising an elastic core, e.g. of rubber or spandex, with a helix of roving around it, and a second helix of at least one firm textile thread, e.g. of cotton, of higher tensile strength than the roving, disposed around the core and first helix, the two helices twisting in opposite directions whereby the resultant yarn has a controlled stretch and the roving does not break when the yarn is under elongation due to normal tension.
