Abstract
1,116,792. Hydraulic apparatus. STAMICARBON N. V. Sept. 24, 1965 [Sept. 26, 1964], No. 40877/65. Heading F1P. The driving unit 1 of a mine face conveyer (not shown) is moved by a hydraulic jack 2, 3, 4 supplied with pressure liquid from a line 12 fed by a pump 5 by way of at least two mechanically coupled motors 8, 10 and at least one of which (e.g. 10) is capable of discharging into a lowpressure chamber e.g. a reservoir 20 whereby they drive the motor 8 causing it to operate as a pump and thus supply liquid of an increased pressure to the jack 2, 3, 4. The pressure liquid normally flows through both motors 8, 10 to the cylinder 3 but when an increased pressure is required a valve 17 is operated to connect the discharge from the pump 10 to the reservoir 20. A distributing valve 13 is disposed in the line 12 and is arranged to direct pressure liquid to one or other end of the cylinder 3 while connecting the opposite end to the reservoir 20. In a second arrangement wherein the low-pressure chamber is constituted by a second cylinder operable to move a lightly loaded part of the conveyer and continuously connected to the motor 10, the arrangement ensured that the volume flow to each cylinder is equal and hence the pistons thereof move in unison.
