Abstract

1,115,857. Fluid pressure horns. KOCKUMS MEKANISKA VERKSTADS AKTIEBOLAG. 18 Aug., 1966 [24 Aug., 1965], No. 36989/66. Heading G5J. In a fluid pressure horn of the diaphragm type, the diaphragm 15 is held in engagement with an annular seat 12 separating the inlet passage 16 from the resonant cavity 17 by a resilient abutment such as an 0-ring 13 which engages the diaphragm around its perimeter on the same side as the annular seat, and an annular projection 18 on a cover member 11, which projection engages the other side of the diaphragm at points located radially inwardly from the line of engagement of the resilient abutment. Any increase in pressure of the fluid (e.g. steam) supplied to the inlet passage 16 forces the resilient abutment 13 outwardly and upwardly causing the diaphragm to be pressed more firmly against the annular seat 12. This compensating effect renders the horn less sensitive to pressure variations. In a modification (Fig. 2, not shown) the resilient abutment is a metal ring.
