Abstract
1,025,549. Gas pressure horn. KOCKUMS MEKANISKA VERKSTADS A.B. March 16, 1964, No. 10948/64. Heading G5J. In a pressure-gas operated horn the flow of gas is periodically interrupted by a freely moving rigid disc-shaped valve member 12. The gas, supplied via the annular inlet 5, forces the valve off the seating 4 and 8 of which the seating 8 is considerably broader than the seating 4. The escape of gas down the trumpet forms a pressure wave and the subsequent decompression wave in the trumpet, the compression of the residual gas behind the valve and the weight of the valve itself all cause the valve to return to the seating and so recommence the cycle. The holes 15 and 16 in the chamber and valve disc respectively, allow the compressed gas behind the valve to leak away when the horn is not in use so that it may restart easily immediately after a prior sound emission. Annular grooves may be provided in the seat 8 and/or disc to improve the sealing between the valve and the seatings.
